Grey Flooring from Xylo

Add Style to Your Interior Design with Grey Flooring

Grey is one of the most stylish and aspirational colours of the moment in interior design, with flooring being no exception to this trend. If your customers are looking for a cutting-edge design idea, striking grey-toned engineered wooden and vinyl floors are an element which can help to create a strong impression.

Why Is Grey So Appealing?

The popularity of grey has grown over the last couple of years, and has been embraced in some surprising ways within building designs. Increasingly, window frames, sills and doors are being picked out in grey matt to give an unusual finishing touch to an interior. Some motorists in the London area have even taken this trend outside their homes, choosing to paint their cars in grey matt. So what is the reason for the colour’s widespread appeal?

One reason is that grey has a contemporary look which means it goes well with materials such as metal and glass. These are featured in many high-tech modern office interiors and are also increasingly chosen by modern home developers and interior designers. As a neutral shade, it makes the ideal background to a full palette of colours. So, whether you are decorating and fitting out a customer’s home or workplace with bright colours, pastels, naturals or choosing dramatic monochrome patterns in black and white, grey will provide the perfect backdrop.

Grey is perceived as being more edgy and interesting in design terms than white or magnolia. It also covers a wider range, since you can choose cooler greys which have a hint of blue in them or warmer greys with hints of brown, to echo and contrast with the other colours in the surrounding decor.

With so many different types of grey to choose from, it is possible to create a “layered” look by using both pale and darker greys within a room, for instance by having a deep grey accent wall to set off the surrounding walls. Choosing a white with a touch of grey for other walls in the room could work well. Grey is also a popular colour for soft furnishings, such as sofas laden with brightly coloured cushions.

Grey Flooring Options

As well as grey paintwork, furniture and fittings, grey-toned flooring is currently very much in demand. Many customers choosing wood flooring are now opting for a grey finish. For instance, it is possible to order from any of Xylo’s engineered oak flooring ranges and choose a grey stain or oil rather than traditional wood colouring. Mayfair Multilayer X-Treme is one example, with the option of choosing a rustic deep grey, brushed and oiled. Some woods from our ranges are available in a subtle mix of grey and brown.

As an alternative, our vinyl Dynamic Click range features many different grey flooring styles, including Light, Medium and Dark Stone Effect vinyl planks, as well as a pebble beach and grey oak effect.

Xylo prides itself on offering the latest quality flooring styles to the trade, with a wide range of finishes available. We bring out new collections each year and customers can rely on us for the trendiest flooring designs, together with quality and durability.
